It is against the law to have any type of sexual encounter with a minor. Unfortunately, sexual abuse often occurs in spaces we typically consider safe for children, including schools. Boarding schools, after-school programs, or other school settings can be the perfect place for a sex offender to find innocent victims. Mr. Manly will discuss his experiences representing child victims of sexual abuse, including the recent $18.4 million settlement against Los Angeles Unified School District resulting from the sexual abuse of students at the Telfair and De La Torre Elementary Schools. Dr. Quas will discuss the consequences of sexual abuse and legal involvement for children's development.
